On October 19 the Meshkovo-Pogorelskaya school held a grand meeting devoted to the launch of the Programme in Ukraine.
Since September 2011, 1055 primary school students from 16 schools in the Zhovtnev district of the Nikolayev Region (Ukraine) have received personal computers and have become part of the “Computers for schools project“.
In the Nikolayev region the Programme is implemented by Oleg Deripaska’s Volnoe Delo Foundation - in partnership with DSP RUSAL, the Nikolayev Alumina Plant (NGZ), the administration of the region, the Zhovtnevyi administration and the Department of Education of the Zhovtnevyi district.
The event was attended by a venerable array of guests: the Deputy Governor of the region N.B. Ivantsova, head of the Zhovtnevyi district A.A. Rakova, head of district education L.M. Palienko, Director of the NGZ J.G. Ovchinnikov, Director of the Regional Institute of Further Education A.M. Starev, “Computers for Schools” Programme Director M.B. Dzamanbaev, heads of education departments of neighbouring regions and the media.
Students from grade 4B demonstrated what they had learned since the beginning of the year with the help of their personal netbooks. The open lesson was held by the "senior teacher", the 1st category expert Denisova Nadevda Borisovna.
In addition to the open lesson, a project workshop was held for Ukrainian teachers - as well as an on-line Skype-conference, during which the Programme Director Dzhamanbaev took questions.
