Oleg Deripaska’s Volnoe Delo Foundation and Intel Corporation to open 5 computer classes in schools of the Arkhangelsk region

7 April 2011
As part of the festivities associated with the 300th anniversary of Lomonosov's birth, Oleg Deripaska's Volnoe Delo Foundation, in partnership with Intel Corporation and Noviy Disc, will provide 5 schools in the Holmogorsk disctrict of the Arkhangelsk Region with 5 portable computer classes, equipped with computers and the latest educational software for working on laboratory problems in science classes.
This initiative is part of the "Computers for Students' program, which has been carried out by the Volnoe Delo Foundation and Intel since 2007, during which time more than 300 schools in Krasnodar Krai, Sverdlovsk Region, Nizhni Novgorod Region and other regions were equipped with "student personal computers".
In 2010 the first 4 schools of the Holmogorsk district received equipment packages for elementary school. These 4 schools will become the future support centers for other schools in the district, where elementary schools classes are only now being equipped with student netbooks.
In 2011, as part of the ongoing program and as part of the 300th anniversary celebration, 5 secondary school classes in the Holmogorsk disctrict of the Arkhangelsk Region will receive 121 computers for children and 6 equipment packages for students (a powerful laptop computer, a wireless access point and licensed software). These will include the Holmogorsk, Emetsk, Lukovetsk, Brin-Navolnaya and Verh-Matigorskaya secondary general schools. The computers will be installed with modern software-methodological systems for the study of natural sciences.
The great scientist, the founding father of Russian science and the first Russian academic M.V. Lomonosov made an enormous contribution to the development of the sciences, and, particularly, to the development of natural sciences, which is why it was decided to provide the student portable computer classes with software that would correspond with Lomonosov's impact on the natural sciences. The software-methodological system developed by Noviy Disc is a multimedia educational product with a high level of interactivity and quality, with realistic graphics. Each laboratory problem consists of interactive experimental facilities that can demonstrate and perform various experiments - and theoretical information (formulas, definitions, unit symbols, tables, diagrams, charts, etc.), necessary for the planning of the experiment and the analysis of obtained results.
