Russian Grammy Award winning orchestra to perform at London’s Cadogan Hall

6 December 2011
London – World renowned violist and conductor Yuri Bashmet and the famous Moscow Soloists will bring their Grammy Award winning performance to London on 15th December at Cadogan Hall, with the support of Oleg Deripaska’s Volnoe Delo Foundation.
Yuri Bashmet has called the upcoming London concert “a very special, very personal event”. In 1992, as the new Russian Federation was being born, Mr Bashmet brought together the most talented alumni, students and graduate students of the Moscow Conservatory to form the ensemble. His goal was to ensure that Russia’s musical heritage carries on and flourishes in the new Russia.
Mr Bashmet explained how he will approach this concert: “I strive to create music in the moment, at the exact time and place that it is being performed.”
The Moscow Soloists will bring to life selections from the masterpiece works of J.S.Bach, G.Pergolesi, G. Rossini and F.Schubert performed by Russia’s rising stars, including Alena Baeva (violin), Xenia Bashmet (piano), Dinara Alieva (soprano), Alexander Buzlov (cello) and other young and talented musicians.
Oleg Deripaska, President of En+ Group and Founder of the Volnoe Delo charitable foundation, is sponsoring the Moscow Soloists’ 20th anniversary concert at Cadogan Hall.
Explaining his support for the ensemble, Oleg Deripaska said: “I am proud that Russia is home to so many of classical music’s greatest composers and performers. It is very important that we continue the best traditions of performing schools in Russia. This is why world famous Russian music groups, including the Grammy-award winning Moscow Soloists directed by Yuri Bashmet, are supported by my Volnoe Delo Foundation and others.”
