
Film festival kicks off in Ust-Labinsk

The 8th annual film festival “Land of Fathers – My Land” will be held on September 18-21 in Ust-Labinsk in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region. Oleg Deripaska Volnoe Delo Foundation, the Directorate of Cultural Programs "The Centre of Festivals", the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, the administration of Ust-Labinsk as well as regional administration and Russian Cultural Ministry are among the organizers of the festival.
The 8th annual film festival “Land of Fathers – My Land” will be held on September 18-21 in Ust-Labinsk in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region. Oleg Deripaska Volnoe Delo Foundation, the Directorate of Cultural Programs "The Centre of Festivals", the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, the administration of Ust-Labinsk as well as regional administration and Russian Cultural Ministry are among the organizers of the festival.
The opening ceremony of the festival will take place on 18 September at 7 pm in Kuban recreation centre in Ust-Labinsk. Fiction and documentary films will be presented at the festival within five exclusive programmes.
The programme entitled “Land of Fathers” will feature five films by Russian documentalists. Among them are four-episode Peasant Story (2013) and Get Sober (2012) by Valery Timoshchenko, Running to the Sun (2011), Treasures of Nonpossessors (2010) and Dance of Little Swans (2004) by Anatoly Ekhalov.
Under the “Children’s Club” programme, several films for children and cartoons will be shown.
The programme called “New Russian Cinema” will feature new fiction films including Toy Merchant (2012), a directorial debut by Yury Vasiliev starring Pier Richard, an award-wining film by Mikhail Segal, Tales (2012), Dialogues (2013) by Irina Volkova, which was nominated for the Kinotavr-2013 Main Prize, as well as Rehearsals (2013) by Oksana Karas.
“Special Show” programme will present Mother’s Happines documentary by Galina Bokashevskaya. “The World Through the Eyes of Youth” will feature nine short-length films by the young directors who have previously took part in the film festivals in France, Italy, the United States, Germany and Sweden.
The closing ceremony will take place on 21 September at 7 pm, on the square in front of the Ust-Labinsk’s administrative building. The gala concert and laser show will be a part of the City Day’s celebrations.
